Motorcycle ride to benefit Judds

A charity motorcycle ride has been scheduled July 27 to benefit Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jim Judd and his wife, Sheri, who were both severely injured in an accident on June 25.

The head-on, two-vehicle collision on Ranch to Market 1631 claimed the life of local resident David Charles Meurer, but also left Jim Judd in a quadriplegic state and Sheri Judd with 11 broken ribs and three fractured vertebrae, according to their son-in-law, Mike Goy.

Jim remains in intensive care in “critical condition” at San Antonio Medical Center, while Sheri has been transferred to medical care in Kerrville and is improving through physical rehabilitation, Goy said.

“As you could imagine, the medical bills will be a very big concern and this ride is dedicated to them to help raise money for those bills,” Goy said.
