Magazine picks Billies to make first playoff appearance since 2007

Projections for how the Fredericksburg, Harper and Heritage high school football teams will fare during the coming school year were announced recently in the 2013 issue of “Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.”

Fredericksburg, which finished 5-5 (1-4 district) in 2012, is expected to make the playoffs for the first time since 2007 by finishing fourth in District 27-3A.

Recent changes to UIL rules will allow for a fourth team to make the playoffs in Class 3A, clearing the way for Fredericksburg’s projected finish.

Meanwhile, Harper is projected to fall short of the Class 1A-DI playoffs with a fifth place finish in Division’s I District 14-1A after the Longhorns went 1-9 (0-5 district) in 2012.

The Heritage Eagles are picked to finish second in the TAPPS DII-4 district title race after falling in the state championship last season. The magazine also named Heritage the fifth-best six-man private school team in Texas, just behind district rival Seguin Lifegate.
