Fredericksburg Youth Baseball Association saw All-star teams advance to sectionals, falter in state contests and fail to advance out of district tournament play.

Junior Baseball, Minor and Major Softball All-stars continue their tournament play with sectional games.

Fredericksburg’s Intermediate Boys (50/70) Baseball All-star team advanced to state, the first time in over 20 years that a team has advanced that far, but lost its first two games.

Minor baseball All-stars were eliminated from district tournament play.

Junior Baseball

During the past week, FYBA Junior Baseball All-stars continued their district tournament.

On Monday night, July 1, they defeated the All-star team from Llano with an 8-7 win.

The winning pitcher was Hayden Schneider. The closer for Fredericksburg was Neil Loth. Together Schneider and Loth threw nine strikeouts.

Tyler Burns had a game-winning double that brought home two runners. Aiding in offensive production was Jordan Hartmann who reached base on three of his four at-bats.

The following night, the local team defeated Bulverde 12-2.

Wade Davis, the winning pitcher, completed 6 1/3 innings. While on the mound, Davis stuck out eight batters and allowed one earned run.

Colton Snedecor helped Davis on defense. Snedecor was moved from catcher to third base. After he was moved, balls started flying to the hot corner, and Snedecor made crucial catches.

“He was like a magnet,” said manager Jim Davis.
