Daily Update for Tuesday, July 16


  • Gillespie County Commissioners meeting in special session Monday approved a resolution in favor of forming an “Alternate Vehicular Route” task force in conjunction with the City of Fredericksburg. While Commissioners Donnie Schuch and Curtis Cameron earlier accepted responsibility as the county’s official appointments to the committee, the county was also asked to name a citizen representative. They named Cord Switzer and he accepted.
  • Fredericksburg City Council on Monday night approved the design for the renovation of the Park Pool at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park. The project will now go out for bids.
  • Texas Tech University President Duane Nellis visited in Fredericksburg yesterday. He talked to the Fredericksburg Rotary Club at noon and was the guest of honor at a reception Monday night at Mansefeldt Sheep Barn at Cherry Spring.
  • Scattered rain fell throughout the county on Sunday and Monday. Since Sunday, a total of 63 points has been measured in the gauge at the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post. There is a forecast for more rain throughout the week.
