Jones named TAPPS 1-A female athlete of year

Heritage School rising senior Kami Jones has been cited as the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ 1-A Female Athlete of the Year for 2012-2013, the top individual award offered by TAPPS.

The honor carries with it a $500 scholarship.

During her just-completed junior year, Jones was a captain of the volleyball, basketball and track teams at Heritage.

She was named to several First Team all-district honors, as well as First Team All-State in track for all three of her years, so far, in high school.

In addition, she’s been named Texas Track and Field Coaches Association’s 1-A Outstanding Female Athlete of the State Track Meet for the past two years.

“My athletic abilities are God-given talents which I use to represent Heritage School. “I thank my teammates, coaches, teachers and family for all their support throughout the years. Without them, none of this would have been possible.”

A knee injury sidelined Jones for two months during her sophomore year.

“Kami is the kind of athlete coaches love to have around,” said Heritage School’s athletic director Jeremy Wentrcek. “She is very versatile and excels in multiple sports as well as the classroom.”
