Daily Update for Wednesday, June 5


  • Graduation exercises are scheduled tonight for 17 students at the Gillespie County Learning Center. Ceremonies will start at 7 p.m. in the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium.
  • Denny's in Fredericksburg is one of 28 participating diners throughout the area helping raise funds for the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville. From 4-8 p.m. today, Denny's will donate 10 percent of their total checks to the camp. Six additional benefit nights are set for the first Wednesday of each month through Dec. 4.
  • Graduation ceremonies will be held Friday night for the Fredericksburg High School Class of 2013. A special salute to the FHS graduates as well as those from Harper High School and Heritage School is included in this week's issue of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
  • After the overdose death of a fellow student, a high school student has stopped using drugs and is now sharing insights about the presence of drugs on the Fredericksburg High School campus. Read his story in this week's newspaper.
  • Harper High School Class of 2013 graduated on Friday night and baccalaureate services were held on Sunday for the FHS Class of 2013. Photographs from those events as well as the Masonic Car Show, the Roots Music Series concert, Splash Day at St. Mary's and more are included in this week's Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
  • Six Fredericksburg High School athletes have signed letters of intent to play sports at various colleges next year.
  • The first in a series of features on former high school athletes appears in this week's newspaper. The spotlight is on Sean Atkins, a 2008 FHS grad who has been overcoming injuries in his quest to keep playing college football.
