Town Pool nears completion
By Matt Ward —
After being closed for the past several years, the finishing touches are being applied on a brand-new Town Pool by contractor Cox Commercial Construction, LLC, with a grand opening slated early next month.
“We’re real happy (with the Town Pool project),” City of Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Director Jimmy Alexander said Friday. “The contractor has done a good job. They’ve met all the timelines and the quality of the work is good. All in all, this has been a very smooth project.”
In May 2012, voters approved a $1.4 million bond measure for a rebuilt Town Pool 1,502-537 as well as a $1.8 million bond measure for improvements at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park Pool with 1,125-892.
The majority of the Town Pool project has been completed and city staff will meet with the architects and contractors this week to go over a final punch list before opening the facility to the public.
