Studebaker fifth, Crenwelge sixth at state track
Two Fredericksburg High School athletes finished just shy of the medal stand Saturday at the UIL State 3A Track and Field Meet at the University of Texas in Austin.
Sophomore Sam Studebaker improved his 800 meter run time by one second to finish fifth at state with an official time of 2:00.75.
“We are excited to have Sam in the program for two more years and look forward to continuing to help him improve his time to help him return to the state meet again next year,” FHS head coach Dan Aldrich said.
Studebaker qualified for state by finishing second at the Region IV-3A meet with a time of 2:01.83.
Senior Jacquelyn Crenwelge cut her season best time four seconds to finish sixth in the 1600 meter run at state with an official time of 5:20.02.
“She ended her high school career as one of the best mile runners in school history,” Aldrich said. “Her work ethic and dedication as a distance runner has helped push the other younger girls in our program to continue to work on completing the tough task of filling her spot next year.”
Crenwelge advanced to state by finishing second at the Region IV-3A meet with a time of 5:23.87.
