Ramon Serrato, 77, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 4, 2013.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.
Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation and a rosary service were held Friday evening, May 10.
Serrato was born July 14, 1935, in Harlingen, the son of Jesus Serrato and Eulalia Guzman Serrato. He married Petra Hernandez on Jan. 30, 1976, in Fredericksburg, and she survives.
For many years, he worked at Allen Keller Co. with the survey crew. After retirement, he worked at the local McDonalds.
In addition to his wife, Serrato is survived by the following children: Maria Serrato of Lockhart; Jimmy Serrato of San Antonio; Elizabeth Serrato of San Antonio; Jesse Bonilla of Fredericksburg; Ray Martinez of New Mexico; Susana Garcia of San Antonio; Fred Cardana of Illinois; Guadalupe Torres of Fredericksburg; Linda Hernandez of Mexico, and Jorge Hernandez of Mexico.
Survivors also include 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Arturo and Diana Serrato of Harlingen; and two sisters-in-law, Rosanda Serrato of Dickinson and Beatrice Cerrato of Mesquite.
Pallbearers included Jimmy Hernandez Serrato, Jesse P. Bonilla, Joel Chavarria, Jesse Ramon Bonilla Jr., Ray Ruiz and Jeronimo Barrientos.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
