Jack Schwarz, 87, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, May 6, 2013.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 8, at 4 p.m. in the chapel at Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.
Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in San Antonio.
Schwarz was born Richard Jack Schwarz on Jan. 21, 1926, in San Antonio, the son of Arthur Louis Schwarz and Rossy Rebecca Meadows Schwarz. He married Audrey Mae Williams on Aug. 31, 1973, in Jourdanton and she survives.
Schwarz worked for and retired from the Texas Animal Health Commission.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in San Antonio.
A U.S. Army veteran, Schwarz served from July 1, 1943, to April 23, 1959, and was discharged with the rank of captain. He received numerous awards and citations for his service.
In addition to his wife, Schwarz is survived by two daughters and one son, Dee Dee Brooks, Nino Paredes and Rico Schwarz; three step-children and spouses, Mike and Sharon Jones, Cindy and Gary Hallam and Nancy Humphrey; 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Center, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
