Founders Day program will include ceremony, dinner
A wreath-laying ceremony, cemetery tour and pioneer activities are planned Saturday, May 11, to celebrate Founders Day in Fredericksburg.
Sponsored by the Gillespie County Historical Society, the event will take place at Marktplatz and at Pioneer Museum.
A wreath-laying ceremony at Marktplatz will honor the founding families of Fredericksburg at 9:30 a.m.
Following the wreath-laying, all are invited to meet Glen Treibs at 11 a.m. for a question and answer session at Der Stadt Friedhof.
Beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m., descendants of blacksmiths and the general public are invited to attend a dinner program at 6 p.m. in the historic sanctuary of the First Methodist Church. Historic Preservation Awards will be presented.
Tickets are sold out for the event.
Living history activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the museum grounds.
