Voters Here Like All But One
Nov 04, 2009 - 15:38:15 CST.
Gillespie County voters agreed Tuesday with the rest of Texas on all but one of 11 proposals in an off-year state constitutional amendment election.
With a 19.1 percent local turnout of 3,297 ballots cast among 17,303 eligible Gillespie County registered voters, only Proposition 4 to establish a national research university fund failed here.
Statewide, however, all 11 propositions received voter approval Tuesday.
In local balloting, 64.8 percent -- or 2,135 votes -- were cast at 14 polling places yesterday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. around the county, with the remaining 1,162 coming during an Oct. 19-27 early voting period.
