FHS HOSA Qualifies 20 For State

Twenty Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) from Fredericksburg High School qualified for state competition after earning top placings at area competition on Friday and Saturday.
The students were in Marble Falls on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Area I HOSA Contest.
The top three finishers at the area competition are eligible to advance to the state contest, which will be held April 10-12 in Austin.
Top winners at state are then eligible for national competition, which will be held in June in Dallas.
•Tiffany Crenwelge was first in Physical Therapy. For the competition, she took a written test and demonstrated PT skills.
•Gina Lange and Priya Patel won top honors in CPR/First Aid. They took a written test and were given an emergency situation with two victims to treat.
•Katelyn Price, Melissa Smith and Anne Wadsworth were first in Medical Reading. For the competition, they read five medically related books, took a written test and then orally answered questions from a panel of judges.
•Veronica Suarez was first with her Career Health Poster. She created a poster with the theme “HOSA: Creating Our Minds And Leading With Our Hearts”.
•Madison Dooley was first in Prepared Speaking.
•Brianna Schaetter won first in Extemporaneous Speaking.
•Katrina Troppy was second in Medical Assisting (clinical).
•Alyssa Hartmann, Chenoa Schmidt, Elizabeth Itz and Rebecca Allen were second in Health Education.
•Rachel Martinez was third in Career Health poster.
•Katherine Ramsey and Haley Pohler were third in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
•Amy West and Kayla Reese finished third in Emergency Medical Technician.
•Luis Monzon was third in Medical Photography.
•Amanda Sanders and Lily Fox placed fourth and are alternates for state with Forensic Medicine.
•Erika Andreassian competed in Physical Therapy.
•Norma Salazar, Ami Sanchez, Dayna Landis and Karlyn Cotlow took part in the Health Education competition.
•Courtney Priess, Kersey Peterson, Georgia Brown and Hannah Maldonado created a Career Health Display.
•Morgan Marquardt competed in Job Seeking Skills.
Advisor for the HOSA students is Nanette Tisdale.
Chaperones were Rhonda Schaetter, Lisa Baird and Brenda Virdell.
